Message For my own reasons, I have Kumho V700 victoracers for street tires on my car. It is "yesterday's DOT racing tire", so it is harder than the current generation (longer lasting) of street-legal R-compounds. At unshaved tread depth, these are suitable for racing in the rain.

I have one long, brutal track day (at Road America) and 1000 street miles on them and they still look nearly new. I had to drive home 4 hours from the track in the rain, so I know you won't have to worry about wet grip. Traction is fantastic except when the temp is below 40 degrees or so; at that point my rear wheels won't hook up. I take it that low temps won't be a problem for you. If they are, the drag radials will probably show similar effects.

All that said, you will get much better tire wear from a standard compound tire. I recommend going to Tire Rack's web site and looking at all the "max performance" and "very high performance" tires. They rank the grip of the tires against each other in each group, but watch it: a middling max-perf tires might be better than the best high-perf tire...they only rank relative to other members of the category. I wish they had a more universal ranking but they don't.
